Tashkent, 8 November 2023 (TDI): The Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, held a productive meeting with the Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Ambassador Khusrav Noziri, on the sidelines of the 16th ECO Summit in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
On my arrival to Tashkent for the ECO Summit, I am grateful to my esteemed colleague, Prime Minister Abdulla Nigmatovich Aripov of Uzbekistan, for the gracious welcome extended to me and the Pakistani delegation at the airport, despite the rainy weather, said Prime Minister Kakar.
The meeting, which took place on November 8, 2023, focused on a range of vital issues concerning the organization’s recent developments, with a particular emphasis on trade, connectivity, and economic cooperation.
Among the significant topics discussed were the recent advancements in trade and connectivity within the ECO region.

The two leaders examined the potential for enhancing economic cooperation among member countries, thereby promoting prosperity and stability in the region. Their dialogue highlighted the importance of collaboration to create a more robust and interconnected regional economy.
In addition to discussing trade and connectivity, the Caretaker Prime Minister and the Secretary-General turned their attention to international affairs, addressing the situation in Indian-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir and the Middle East.
Moreover, Prime Minister Kakar also engaged in constructive dialogues with President Mirziyoyev in Tashkent, focusing on bolstering the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Uzbekistan across various domains, including trade and security.
Expressed dedication to expediting the implementation of the Strategic Partnership Agreement and advancing the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan railway project to reinforce regional connectivity.
