Prime Minister Imran Khan meets President of Uzbekistan

Dushanbe, 16 September 2021 (TDI): Prime Minister Imran Khan meets the President of Uzbekistan H.E.Shavkat Mirziyoye on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Heads of State Council Summit in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The meeting marked the discussion of mutual interests.

Pakistan through its policy shift towards geo-economics and Vision Central Asia policy aims to fragment relations with the Central Asian states.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan paid an official two-day visit to Uzbekistan in July 2021 to attend the Uzbekistan-Pakistan Business Forum. Pakistan and Tajikistan have also signed several MoUs in diverse areas to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The two countries have also signed the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership.

The bilateral relationship between the two countries holds considerable importance. Both the countries aim to lift their people out of poverty through a welfare state.
