Beirut, 25 January 2022 (TDI): President of the Republic of Lebanon, Michel Aoun, met with Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah.

During his meeting with the Foreign Minister on Sunday, the President declared that Lebanon welcomes any Arab move that would restore normal relations between Lebanon and the Arab Gulf states.

This declaration is based on a firm Lebanese keenness to preserve the best relations between Lebanon and the Arab countries.

President Aoun thanked the Kuwaiti Minister for the initiative he did, which reflects the distinguished relations between Lebanon and Kuwait.

Especially since this initiative enjoys Gulf, Arab and international support to rebuild confidence between Lebanon and the Gulf states.

During the meeting, the Lebanese President asserted the strength of the Lebanese-Kuwaiti relations. He also conveyed his greetings to Minister Al-Sabah for the Emir of the State of Kuwait. Extending to Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The President also meant to extend his thanks to the Kuwaiti people and leaders for always standing by Lebanon in the difficult circumstances it went through. Nevertheless, for “taking care of the Lebanese people residing in their second country, Kuwait.”

On the Lebanese side, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdullah Bou Habib. Former Minister Salim Jreissati attended as well. In addition to the Director-General of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Antoine Choucair, and advisers Rafik Shalala, Antoine Constantine, and Osama Khashab also participated.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Al-Sabah wrote a word in the honors record. He stated that he had the honor to meet the President of the brotherly Republic of Lebanon.

He also added that he conveyed to him the greetings to the Emir of Kuwait, the government, and the people of Kuwait. In addition to his wishes for Lebanon for it to enjoy more stability, security, and prosperity.
