# President Zardari Awards Sitara-i-Pakistan to Chinese Cardiologist Pan Xiangbin

**Islamabad (TDI):** President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the Sitara-i-Pakistan upon renowned Chinese cardiologist Professor Pan Xiangbin at a special investiture ceremony, on Monday, recognizing his exceptional contributions to cardiac care and dedicated services to patients in Pakistan.

Professor Pan, an interventional cardiologist and cardiac surgeon, currently serves as Vice President of Fuwai Hospital under the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Director of the National Interventional Quality Control Center for Structural Heart Disease.

Internationally acclaimed in his field, he has led the development of cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, including several world-first innovations and patented medical solutions.

Among his most notable contributions are ultrasound-guided interventional techniques that allow treatment of complex cardiac conditions without the need for open surgery, radiation exposure, or general anaesthesia.

President Zardari, in his remarks, praised Professor Pan’s commitment to improving healthcare beyond borders. He highlighted the professor’s visit to Pakistan in January 2025, during which he and his team performed life-saving procedures on children suffering from congenital heart disease.

The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Ali Hassan Barohi, and Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Investment and Public-Private Partnership Projects.

China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, were also present.

The conferment of the Sitara-i-Pakistan on Professor Pan Xiangbin underscores Pakistan’s recognition of international partners who contribute meaningfully to the country’s development, particularly in critical sectors such as healthcare.
