Palestinian Prime Minister meets Sweden’s Consul General

-

Jerusalem, 8 October 2021 (TDI): The Prime Minister of the Palestinian state, Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh held a diplomatic engagement with the Consul General of Sweden, Julius Liljeström.

The agenda of the diplomatic engagement was to discuss the bilateral relationship between Palestine and Sweden in the spheres of economy and politics. The two sides discussed the latest developments and underscored the significance of a deepened relationship between the two. Cooperation and collaboration for mutual interest is the way forward.

Sweden was the first member country of the European Union (EU) to recognize the state of Palestine in 2014. Other European states recognized Palestine’s status before becoming a member of the EU.

The two allies have had a history of bilateral relations ever since Sweden opened a consulate in the country in 1903.
