New York, 23 September 2021 (TDI): The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Palestine, Dr.Riad Malki, addressed the Durban Conference at the 76th United Nations General Assembly session. He is representing his country in New York.
In his address, he enunciated the stance of his country regarding racism and the need for its eradication from the world. He reminded the world about its moral, legal, economic and political obligation to support the principles of Durban. Unfortunately, some of the countries are still clinging to colonial legacies instead of eliminating embedded behavior of superiority and exceptionalism. The Minister reiterated Palestine’s support for the African nations in their struggle against racism. He opined that it is paramount to counter modern racism in all forms by accountability through compensation, restitution, and guarantee of cessation.
Further, the Minister expressed regret on the boycott of the Conference by some states. He stressed the need for the elimination of discrimination and injustices.
