# Pakistan’s Seafood Exports to China Hit Record Growth

**Beijing (TDI):** Pakistan’s seafood exports to China have seen remarkable growth during the first nine months of 2025, rising to over $153 million from $121.93 million in the same period last year, according to the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).

Officials say the surge reflects closer cooperation between the two countries in agriculture and fisheries under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The expansion of cold chain logistics, faster certification processes, and better access to the Chinese market have all played a part in this success.

Leading the export surge was frozen fish with shipments worth $40.10 million, up from $30.19 million last year, amounting to 21.83 million kilograms in total. Exports of fresh or chilled crabs also climbed, reaching $25.68 million (3.53 million kg) compared with $22.65 million during the same period of 2024.

Meanwhile, frozen cuttlefish exports rose slightly to $20.29 million, representing 8.04 million kilograms, up from $19.83 million a year ago. The most striking increase was seen in frozen sardines, sardinella, brisling, or sprats, which jumped to $11.24 million (18.39 million kg), compared with just over $3 million last year.

In this category, Pakistan overtook Russia and Indonesia, becoming China’s largest seafood supplier, according to data cited by CEN.

Experts believe the sustained quarterly rise underlines Pakistan’s growing competitiveness and product diversification in China’s seafood market.

The success has also been supported by the “green channel” clearance system at Chinese airports, which enables ice-seafood shipments to reach consumers within 48 hours of arrival, preserving freshness and maximizing market value.
