New York (TDI): Savita Pawnday, the Executive Director of the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect (GCR2P), visited the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations where she met with Ambassador Usman Jadoon, Pakistan’s acting Permanent Representative to the UN.
The meeting provided an opportunity for Pawnday to brief Jadoon on the Centre’s work and ongoing activities aimed at preventing mass atrocities and advancing global protection efforts.
During their discussion, Pawnday and Jadoon examined the relevance of the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) principle within the context of the UN Security Council’s agenda.
They specifically highlighted its application to pressing international crises, including the situations in Gaza and Kashmir.

Pawnday emphasized the Centre’s commitment to promoting international cooperation and dialogue to address these critical issues, stressing the importance of R2P as a tool for preventive action and conflict resolution.
The conversation underscored the GCR2P’s role in protection of civilians and the international community’s responsibility to act against atrocities when necessary.
