Pakistan’s Envoy Attends Sharjah Book Fair

Sharjah (TDI): Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, attended the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) on Saturday, underscoring the deep cultural ties between Pakistan and the UAE and exploring new avenues for literary collaboration.

The Ambassador called on Ahmed Bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, expressing gratitude for the SBA’s support of Pakistani publishers and authors at the fair.

Al Ameri praised Pakistan’s rich literary heritage, reaffirming the SBA’s commitment to enhancing the global profile of Pakistani literature.

Highlighting the Sharjah Lightningsource initiative, Al Ameri noted that this platform allows authors worldwide, including those from Pakistan, to share their work without facing logistical obstacles.

He emphasized Sharjah’s aim to serve as a cultural bridge connecting voices across borders.

Ambassador Tirmizi lauded the SBA’s efforts to foster literacy and cultural exchange, remarking, “Today’s readers are tomorrow’s leaders,” and pledged to support greater Pakistani representation at future SIBF events.

In addition, the Ambassador met with His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Publishing City (SPC) Free Zone, who detailed SPC’s role in establishing Sharjah as a hub for publishing and cultural engagement.

The SPC offers a conducive ecosystem for publishers, investors, and entrepreneurs, further strengthening Sharjah’s influence in the literary world.

During his visit, the envoy engaged with Pakistani publishers, appreciating their efforts to promote Urdu literature.

He also expressed interest in the work of the Ibn Al Arabi for Research and Publishing Foundation, especially a publication by Shah Wali Ullah Mohaddis Dehlivi, which reflects Pakistan’s scholarly contributions on a global platform.

The envoy’s participation at SIBF underlined Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing cross-cultural literary relations with the UAE, highlighting a shared vision of cultural understanding and literary collaboration.
