Kabul, 2 November 2021 (TDI): Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Mansoor Khan stated that an agreement had been reached with the Afghan authorities. This agreement calls for the reopening of the Chaman-Spin Boldak gate. The Taliban nearly a month ago closed the border crossing for trade and pedestrians.
The Ambassador added that he had called on Afghan Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi. They had discussed the significance of opening the Boldak-Chaman crossing. Reopening is important in order to facilitate the cross-border movement of people. Moreover, it will facilitate the trade of vehicles on both sides.
The decision to reopen the Chaman-Spin Boldak crossing will facilitate Traders and people. Moreover, It will strengthen Bilateral cooperation between Islamabad and Kabul. The Taliban government’s Deputy Spokesman, Bilal Karimi also stated that both sides had reached an understanding that passengers should not face difficulties.
Pakistani traders welcomed the decision to reopen the border. The closure of the Chaman-Spin Boldak gate caused huge financial losses and mental distress to businessmen. Islamabad and Kabul will now look forward to ensuring smooth operations of the important border crossing.
