Pakistan-UAE joint statement on boosting multisectoral cooperation

Abu Dhabi, 13 January 2023 (TDI): On January 12-13, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid an official visit to the United Arab Emirates at the invitation of the President of UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

This was the Prime Minister’s third visit since taking office. During his visit, Shehbaz Sharif met with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in a bilateral meeting where he was presented with a guard of honor at the Presidential Palace.

The two leaders held detailed discussions on concrete measures to strengthen bilateral relations while also exchanging views on regional political and security issues during their most warm and cordial meeting.

They also discussed specific initiatives to strengthen cooperation in the political, defense, economic, commercial, and cultural sectors, as well as developing joint ventures and strengthening collaboration in the human resources sector.

The UAE provided generous assistance during the recent floods in Pakistan, particularly through an air bridge set up for this purpose, for which the Prime Minister thanked Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The two sides decided to step up consultation and coordination geared toward strengthening strategic partnerships and cooperation, particularly in the field of information and communication technologies.

They also decided to collaborate to close the digital divide in order to develop tangible and meaningful bilateral cooperation in key areas.

In the pursuit of regional and global peace and security, Pakistan and the UAE reaffirmed their long-standing and fraternal ties.

These ties are founded on a common religion, culture, and set of values. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the agreement on a wide range of local and international issues.

Both nations expressed solidarity with one another in an effort to protect their territorial integrity and long-standing fraternal ties.

The two nations decided to step up consultations and coordination in order to solidify their strategic partnership and develop real and significant bilateral cooperation in important areas.

Memorandums of Understanding were signed by the two parties in the areas of information sharing, combating human trafficking, and between the diplomatic academies of the two nations.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was also invited to Pakistan by Prime Minister Sharif, and the UAE government accepted the invitation.
