# Pakistan, Turkiye Drone and Aerospace Defense

**Ankara (TDI):** Pakistan and Türkiye look to cooperate in unmanned aerial systems and advanced aerospace tech, as Pakistan’s air chief met with the Turkish air force commander, defense minister, and senior executives of Baykar Technologies in Turkiye.

Baykar Technologies is the Turkish firm behind the globally acclaimed Bayraktar drone series. Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu’s discussions with the firm executives centered on advancements in aerospace innovation, unmanned aerial systems and emerging technologies.

The chief’s visit and engagements come at a time when militaries around the world are pouring investment into drones, electronic warfare, cyber capabilities, and integrated multi-domain operations that blend air, land, and digital battlefield systems.

Pakistan has increasingly emphasized that future conflicts will be defined by unmanned systems, artificial intelligence, cyber warfare, and beyond-visual-range combat; lessons driven by last year’s confrontation with India.

Earlier this month, Sidhu described the May 2025 operations as a “full-spectrum, multi-domain” campaign that combined cyber offensives, drones, hypersonic weapons, and long-range strike systems to degrade India’s military network.

Pakistan’s air force downed several Indian fighter jets during that conflict, including French-made Rafales, pointing to the role of network-centric warfare and integrated battlefield coordination as decisive factors.

Beyond hardware and technology, the Ankara meetings also focused on enhancing interoperability through joint exercises, training programs, and professional exchanges, with the Turkish air force commander expressing appreciation for Pakistan’s support in training Turkish pilots.

In a separate meeting, Sidhu held talks with Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler on expanding collaboration in training, capacity building, and aerospace-related fields.

Pakistan and Türkiye have long cultivated close political, military, and economic ties. Pakistan’s military described the engagements as reflecting “growing strategic convergence” between the two nations in defense and emerging technologies.
