# Pakistan to Host US-Iran Peace Deal Signing Ceremony in Geneva: PM Shehbaz

**Islamabad (TDI):** Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday said Pakistan will host the signing ceremony of the landmark US-Iran peace agreement in Geneva later this week, describing the accord as a historic diplomatic achievement that ended months of conflict and opened a new chapter for regional peace.

Addressing the National Assembly, the premier said the ceremony for the agreement, which provides a framework to end the war, lift the US blockade of Iranian ports and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, would take place on June 19 in Geneva under Pakistan’s auspices.

“The signing ceremony of this historic agreement will be held on Friday, June 19, in Geneva, and by the grace of God, it will be hosted by Pakistan,” he told lawmakers.

PM Shehbaz said the agreement marked a major milestone for global peace after more than three months of conflict between the United States and Iran.

“A new dawn has emerged today,” he said, noting that both countries had agreed to an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.

The prime minister described the accord as a victory for diplomacy, dialogue and peace rather than any single country, and praised the leadership in Washington and Tehran for demonstrating patience and restraint during a difficult negotiating process.

Pakistan played a central mediating role throughout the conflict, helping broker an earlier ceasefire and facilitating several rounds of talks, including direct discussions hosted in Islamabad.

PM Shehbaz congratulated the people of Pakistan and the international community on what he called a historic achievement, saying Pakistan’s efforts would be remembered as a significant contribution to regional and global stability.

He also thanked PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and leaders of other political parties for their support during the peace process.

The premier paid tribute to regional leaders who assisted mediation efforts, including Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

PM Shehbaz also praised Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir for what he described as tireless efforts to sustain negotiations and prevent further escalation.

“There were moments when it seemed the talks might collapse, but he remained committed to the process and continued working for peace,” the prime minister said.

He further acknowledged the role of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and officials of the Foreign Office for their contributions to the diplomatic initiative.

The agreement, announced earlier on Monday, is expected to be formally signed in Geneva after a series of technical-level discussions and pre-implementation meetings scheduled throughout the week.
