Islamabad (TDI): The Ministry of Climate Change is facing criticism for sending a large delegation to the COP29 climate conference in Baku.
The ministry finalized a delegation of 35 officials, including the daughter of a cabinet minister, to represent Pakistan at the COP29 event on November 11 in the Azerbaijan capital.

Reports indicate that the trip will cost over $1 million to the national kitty.
Ironically, the visit was funded through a loan from the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF), which has attracted public ire.
Critics argue that these funds would be better spent on local climate resilience efforts.

The timing has also raised concerns, as an IMF team is scheduled to visit Pakistan on the same day to discuss a $1 billion climate financing package.
Observers say such expenses undermine the nation’s commitment to prudent climate financing and sustainable development.
