Islamabad, 26 August 2024 (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Monday that Pakistan-China strategic ties were vital for regional peace, Radio Pakistan reported.
He made these remarks during a meeting with the Commander of the Ground Forces of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China, General Li Qiaoming at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad.
During the meeting, PM Shehbaz warmly welcomed General Li to Pakistan and underscored that Pakistan and China were All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partners and trusted friends.
The premier hailed “deep-rotted” ties, saying the neighbouring country “enjoys broad public, political, and institutional support in Pakistan.

Expressing satisfaction over the deepening military-to-military exchanges between the two countries, the Prime Minister said these relations form the foundation of their bilateral relationship.
Speaking on the occasion, China’s PLA Commander General Li said China highly values its relationship with Pakistan and deems it as an iron brother, strategic partner, and reliable friend.
“We desire to elevate our bilateral friendship to new levels of cooperation and collaboration,” General Li said.

He also commended the role of the Pakistan Army in the fight against terrorism and extremism while recognizing its professionalism and dedication.
Both dignitaries discussed various aspects of bilateral relations, especially the defense and strategic partnerships.
