Beijing (TDI): The China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) and Pakistan’s Board of Investment (BOI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the 2024 China Textile Conference held in Keqiao, Shaoxing.
The agreement marks a pivotal step in enhancing bilateral trade and cooperation in the textile sector.
Speaking at the event, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, described the MoU as a “landmark development” that would pave the way for establishing textile parks in Pakistan.
He highlighted the initiative as a robust framework to foster technology transfer, build capacity, and strengthen trade ties between the two countries.
The conference, organized by CNTAC, focused on four core themes: innovation environments, advanced materials, artificial intelligence, and production processes.
Experts deliberated on global textile supply chain optimization and emerging industry trends.

Ambassador Hashmi underscored Pakistan’s unique position in the global textile market, noting its strategic location, skilled workforce, and vertically integrated supply chain.
“As the second-largest supplier of cotton cloth globally and the fifth-largest exporter of cotton, Pakistan offers unmatched potential for collaboration with Chinese enterprises,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to the Shandong Ruyi Group for supporting the initiative, adding that Pakistan had been given the exclusive honor of participating as the only foreign country at the annual conference.

The Secretary of BOI, along with representatives of Pakistan’s leading textile companies, joined the conference to promote Pakistan’s investment potential in the textile and apparel sectors.
This collaboration aims to integrate advanced technologies and sustainable practices into Pakistan’s textile industry, propelling it toward a more innovative and eco-friendly future.
