Pakistan, Jordan Reaffirm Defense Partnership as COAS Visits Amman

Amman (TDI): Pakistan’s Field Marshal and Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Syed Asim Munir, met King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of Jordan and Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, during his official visit to Amman. Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II was also present in the meeting.

During the discussions, both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in defense and security.

They also exchanged views on key regional developments, underscoring the importance of close coordination between the two brotherly nations in addressing evolving security challenges across the Middle East and South Asia.

COAS Munir reiterated Pakistan’s strong desire to further deepen the historic and fraternal relationship with Jordan, particularly through expanded military and strategic collaboration.

King Abdullah II expressed appreciation for the professionalism and significant contributions of the Pakistan Armed Forces toward regional peace and stability.

He also acknowledged Pakistan’s consistent support in capacity building, training exchanges, and cooperation within multilateral security frameworks, noting that both countries share common perspectives on peace and stability in the region.

Earlier in the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir called on Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Huneiti, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), at the General Headquarters in Amman. Upon arrival, the COAS was accorded a warm welcome and presented with a Guard of Honor.

In their meeting, both commanders reviewed the existing defense cooperation between Pakistan and Jordan, which spans training exchanges, counter-terrorism collaboration, and joint military exercises.

They reaffirmed their resolve to build on the long-standing relationship between their armed forces, rooted in mutual respect, trust, and shared goals for peace and security.

Major General Al-Huneiti lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces’ steadfast contributions to regional security, particularly their role in countering terrorism and promoting stability through international cooperation.
