Pakistan, Iran Vow to Enhance Cooperation in Diverse Sectors

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan’s speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, met with the deputy speaker of Iran’s Parliament, Ali Nikzad, and his accompanying delegation, at the Parliament House.

During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on Pakistan Iran ties, parliamentary cooperation, economic partnership, and issues of mutual interest across various sectors.

Speaker Sadiq emphasized the need to further strengthen cooperation for ensuring regional stability and shared prosperity. He said that Pakistan and Iran are brotherly neighboring countries bound together by deep-rooted ties of history, religion, and culture.

He termed the recent visit of Dr. Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, as a milestone in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting parliamentary engagement between the two countries.

Both leaders underlined the importance of enhancing collaboration at the parliamentary level and promoting people-to-people contacts to deepen mutual understanding and friendship between Pakistan and Iran.

The meeting also stressed the importance of unity and solidarity among Muslim countries to address common challenges and promote peace and progress in the region.

Speaker Sadiq said that the people of Iran consider Pakistan their second home, reflecting the strong fraternal bond between the two nations. He expressed Pakistan’s gratitude to Iran for its unwavering support during the war with India.

He added that Pakistan successfully defended its sovereignty by shooting down seven Rafale fighter jets during the recent hostilities with India, a testament to the valor and professionalism of the Pakistani Armed Forces.

He also reiterated that Pakistan has always advocated for peace and the peaceful resolution of conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.

While expressing concern over the misuse of Afghan soil for terrorist activities inside Pakistan, the Speaker reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm resolve to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Recalling the Parliament of Pakistan’s unified resolution condemning Israel’s aggression against Iran, the Speaker stated that Iran and Pakistan face common challenges and adversaries, including the threat posed by Israel. He congratulated Iran on its strong and timely response to Israeli aggression.

Speaker Sadiq also extended best wishes to Deputy Speaker Ali Nikzad for the successful implementation of Iran’s upcoming five-year development plan.

Deputy Speaker Ali Nikzad expressed condolences over the recent terrorist attack in Islamabad and paid tribute to the victims. He also appreciated Pakistan’s support and solidarity during Iran’s critical moments, particularly during the twelve-day war, terming it a symbol of enduring friendship.

Nikzad further highlighted that there exist vast opportunities to expand cooperation between Iran and Pakistan in multiple areas, including trade, energy, education, and parliamentary capacity building.
