Moscow (TDI): Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, paid a courtesy call on Senator Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, to discuss matters of mutual interest and avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Ambassador Tirmizi reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to expanding its partnership with Russia, emphasizing enhanced collaboration in the parliamentary, trade, business, and cultural sectors.

Both sides also reviewed preparations for the upcoming meetings of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of Government (SCO-CHG) and the 10th Jubilee Session of the Pakistan-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, scheduled to take place in Islamabad later this year.
They noted with satisfaction the growing parliamentary engagement between the upper houses of both countries. The ambassador commended the role of Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko in promoting inter-parliamentary dialogue and strengthening mutual understanding.

Ambassador Tirmizi also extended his best wishes to Deputy Chairman Kosachev and his delegation for their upcoming visit to Islamabad to attend the Interparliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), hosted by the Senate of Pakistan from November 10 to 12, 2025.
