Washington, (TDI): Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh on Wednesday presented his Letter of Credence to US President Joe Biden, formally assuming his role as Pakistan’s 30th envoy to the United States.
At a ceremony held at Blair House, President Biden warmly welcomed Ambassador Sheikh, reiterating that the United States remains committed to supporting Pakistan in addressing global and regional challenges.
The event was attended by members of the diplomatic corps and senior US officials, as stated in a press release issued by the Pakistani embassy.
During his address, Ambassador Sheikh extended greetings from Pakistan’s leadership to President Biden and the American people.
He highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two nations, emphasizing that Pakistan and the US have built a strong foundation for future cooperation.
The Ambassador acknowledged US assistance in Pakistan’s early years and noted that both countries continue to expand collaboration in key areas such as climate change, energy, health, trade, and investment.

“Pakistan-US economic partnership is at the core of our engagement,” Ambassador Sheikh said, adding that the US remains Pakistan’s largest export destination.
He expressed Pakistan’s readiness to enhance trade ties and attract American investments, particularly in alternative energy, green technology, industry, digital platforms, and higher education.
Sheikh also praised the role of the Pakistani diaspora in the US, calling them a vital bridge between the two nations.
Biden Highlights Pak-US Cooperation
In his remarks, President Biden underscored the significance of Ambassador Sheikh’s arrival, noting it marked over 75 years of Pakistan-US friendship.
“It symbolizes our enduring commitment to economic engagement, security cooperation, and people-to-people ties,” said President Biden.

He added that the US remains steadfast in supporting Pakistan in tackling pressing challenges such as climate change, regional security threats, and global health concerns.
Biden further highlighted the importance of the US-Pakistan relationship in promoting regional stability and security, emphasizing cooperation in counter-terrorism and the shared ambition to build upon existing ties.
President Biden expressed his eagerness to work closely with Ambassador Sheikh in advancing the common agenda and further strengthening relations between the two countries.
