Bishkek (TDI): At the 11th summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in Bishkek, leaders from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkiye, and Uzbekistan approved a new flag representing the organization and its shared cultural identity.
The new flag features a turquoise background, symbolizing a clear sky, peace, and prosperity.
At its center are a crescent moon, a star, and a sun with forty rays, representing the vitality, statehood, and aspirations of the Turkic world.
An octagon, symbolizing the region’s deep-rooted history and stability, reflects the member states’ common cultural heritage.

The sun’s rays emphasize openness, while the crescent moon and star underline progress and development inspired by a rich historical legacy.
The OTS, headquartered in Istanbul, is a key political and economic alliance for its member countries: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkiye, and Uzbekistan.
Turkmenistan and Hungary participate as observers.
The first OTS flag was introduced in 2012, with the new version marking an evolution of its international identity.

In a related address, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reviewed the achievements of Kazakhstan’s recent OTS chairmanship.
The leaders also adopted the Charter of the Turkic World, and central banks agreed to establish a new council to deepen financial cooperation.
