Muscat, 15 October 2021 (TDI): The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi received the US Special Envoy to Yemen, Timothy Lenderking. The meeting involved the prevalent situation in Yemen. Previously, Oman also held meetings with various dignitaries in this regard. The US Envoy also met with regional leaders, in past, to discuss the resolution of the Yemen crisis.
Constructive meeting with #USEnvoyYemen. Oman and the US remain committed to supporting peace and stability for the benefit of all parties and working closely with the mission of UN special Envoy @OSE_Yemen. https://t.co/eg8s4LLFAX

The latest development in Yemen and preventive measures to stop the war were the essence of the diplomatic dialogue. Most recently, the Houthi militia has upped the ante by intensifying their onslaught. They’ve targeted the civilian populace along with impeding access to basic commodities like food and water. Marib governorate is under a siege forced by the Houthi perpetrators. Not long ago the Houthi militia also targeted one of the airports in Saudi Arabia. Several world leaders condemned the attack and aggression enacted by the militia in Yemen.
Yemen war has caused a crisis resulting in a humanitarian catastrophe. The legitimate government of the country has been hindered by the Houthi aggression. The crisis has worked like a watershed event resulting in the displacement of many people. Regional peace and stability are also at stake. Oman is an advocate of peace and harmony and strives to implement stability in the region. Ergo, the recent meeting with the US envoy.
Ambassador Khalid bin Hashel Al-Maslihi, Head of the Department of the Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the US Ambassador to the Sultanate, Leslie Tsou, also attended the meeting.
