Oman attends 60th Anniversary celebration of Non-Aligned Movement

Belgrade, 12 October 2021 (TDI): The Sultanate of Oman participated in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)’s first conference. The celebration is being held at the Serbian capital, Belgrade.

The delegation of Oman attending the conference was led by the Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs, Shaikh Khalifa Ali al Harthy.

Whilst addressing the conference, he spoke on behalf of Oman’s ruler, Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. He affirmed his country’s support for the NAM. According to the Foreign Policy of Oman, it is vital to respect the sovereignty of states for the sake of world peace.

The Sultanate also appreciated NAM’s support for the legitimate and just cause of Palestine. However, he enunciated that there is a need to further expand the role of NAM as per the contemporary world.
