LAHORE, (TDI): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year 2024, with no Pakistani player making the list.
The prestigious Test award features four nominees: England’s Joe Root, India’s Jasprit Bumrah, Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis, and England’s Harry Brook.
Joe Root earned his place through consistent mastery in the longest format, while Jasprit Bumrah delivered a record-breaking year, taking 71 wickets in 13 Tests, the most by any bowler in 2024.
the ICC press release said that Bumrah captained India to a 295-run victory over Australia in Perth during Rohit Sharma’s absence.
Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis made an impact with his all-round contributions, and England’s Harry Brook earned recognition for his rapid rise with stellar performances throughout the year.
The ICC Awards 2024 aim to honor exceptional contributions to Test cricket, with the winner set to be announced at an eagerly awaited ceremony.
Yesterday, the ICC had announced its nominees for the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2024 category. Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam has secured a nomination alongside Australia’s Travis Head, Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza, and India’s Arshdeep Singh.

Babar amassed 738 runs in 24 matches, including six fifties, and maintained an impressive strike rate of 133.21.
The ICC noted that despite a mixed year for Pakistan, no other batter from the country scored as many T20I runs. Babar is now just eight runs shy of breaking Rohit Sharma’s record as the all-time highest run-scorer in T20I cricket.
His competitors include Travis Head, who scored 539 runs in 15 matches; Sikandar Raza, who contributed 573 runs and 24 wickets in 24 matches; and Arshdeep Singh, who claimed 36 wickets in 18 matches.
