Colombia, 23 October 2021 (TDI): US State Secretary Antony Blinken participated in the Ninth US-Colombia High-Level Dialogue on Thursday. Colombian delegation was led by its Vice President and Foreign Minister.
During the discussions, both the delegations deliberated over increasing cooperation in social and economic sectors. Areas of cooperation as underlined in the discussion included education, culture, sports, environment, health, energy, democracy, good governance, human rights, security, and counternarcotics.
Secretary Blinken and Colombian Vice President Ramirez also committed to working in support of civil society to promote social equity. Both the officials also committed to strengthening their bilateral cooperation to combat climate change, digital development, and environmental crimes.
At the end of the High-level meeting, Secretary Blinken expressed the USA’s desire to celebrate 200 years of diplomatic relations with Colombia next year. He also reiterated the US commitment to cooperate with Colombia over shared goals.
