New Zealand to increase contribution for Climate Change efforts

Glasgow, 18 October 2021 (TDI): In United Nations Climate Conference in Glasgow, New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced ‘a four-fold increase’. It is meant to support the states on the verge of climate emergency. The Climate Change Minister, James Shaw was also participating. New Zealand will assist the lower income countries. It will do so through aiding up to $1.3 billion in tackling climate change across the world.

According to Jacinda Ardern, the purpose of aiding is to protect lives, livelihoods and infrastructure in underdeveloped nations from the impacts of climate change. New Zealand’s Prime Minister considered such contribution an investment for future of coming generations.

She said that such a cooperation will assist to safeguard the environment and protect the planet.

Shaw stated that the commitment is a critical pillar of real and tangible climate change action across the globe. New Zealand’s climate finance commitment will cover the period from 2022 to 2025.
