Nepal’s Foreign Minister addresses UNGA 76th Session

New York, 28 September 2021 (TDI): Nepali Foreign Minister, Narayan Khadka addressed the General Debate of the 76th session of UNGA. He highlighted Nepal’s position on multilateralism and various issues of state interest.

The Minister expressed condolences to those who lost their loved ones as a result of the COVID-19. In many low-income nations, rising vaccination inequity is having negative socioeconomic consequences. Vaccines must be deemed public goods in order to improve people’s lives. He praised the international community, especially the UN’s response towards Covid-19.

Moreover, the Nepali leader condemned terrorism and extremism. He added that Nepal aims to exit the “Least Developed Countries” category by 2026. This will be an opportunity to introduce structural change. Along with achieving the national goal of developing in a smooth, sustainable, and irreversible manner.
