The plan aims at increasing exports, attracting foreign direct investment, improving the tax-to-GDP ratio, and devising a strategy to deal with loss-making state-owned enterprises.

In April this year, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for constituting a comprehensive five-year strategy to boost the country’s exports.

He emphasized the need for a collaborative approach, urging the Ministry of Trade to establish the export strategy in conjunction with successful entrepreneurs and industry players.

Iqbal stressed that the country’s resources must be utilized to promote an export-driven economy and advancing sectors such as e-commerce, automation, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence, which he believes will significantly alter the nation’s economic landscape.

He went on to say that in order to grow, Pakistan has to connect its human resources with new technology.

Iqbal urged civil officials to fully use their skills and capacity to successfully address public challenges, emphasizing that civil service is a serious obligation, not just a job.
