# National day of Madagascar

Madagascar: 26 June 2021 (TDI): Independence Day or Madagascar national day is celebrated every year on 26th June. The day is observed to celebrate Madagascar’s independence from France in 1960. This year marks the 61st Independence Day of Madagascar.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Pakistan Zahid Hafeez Chaudri wished the people and government of Madagascar on the occasion of their independence.

Every year, people gather at the Mahamasina Stadium, in the capital Antananarivo to watch a military parade, which is followed by a concert. The day is celebrated with lots of food and a show of fireworks in the end.

**The geographic location**

Worldwide Madagascar is the fourth largest island and is located on the southeastern coast of Africa

**Climate**

The climate of Madagascar is mostly tropical with a hot and rainy season in November and summers at the end of March along with a cooler dry from May to October.

**Population**

As of 2021, the estimated population of Madagascar is 25 million. A large number of the population almost 52% is animist, 41% is Christian and only 7% are Muslims. A very small number of Hindus and around 360 Jews population.

**National Flag**

The flag consists of a horizontal red and a green stripe and a vertical white stripe at the hoist. The ratio of the width to length of the flag is 2 to 3.

**National Anthem **

The national anthem of Madagascar is known as “Ry Tanindrazanay malala ô”!
