Kashgar, 18 June 2023 (TDI): Third Muztagata Forum, an International Symposium focused on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), kicks off in the city of Kashgar, in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China.
Organized in collaboration with the Research Center of China Pakistan Economic Corridor of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission (Kashi University), Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Institute, Shenzhen Pairing Assistance to Xinjiang Front Headquarters, and Kashi Economic Development Zone, the symposium has received steadfast support from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Beijing, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, and the Kashi Prefecture Government.
The symposium holds a special significance as it aims to commemorate the monumental achievements of “the Belt and Road” initiative and the 10th anniversary of the construction of the CPEC
The symposium aims to strengthen the collaboration among the academic communities of China and Pakistan, promote high-quality research on the development of “the Belt and Road” and the CPEC, and further fortify the enduring all-weather strategic partnership between China and Pakistan.

While speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of Pakistan to China said that CPC stands as a shining testament to the unwavering friendship and mutually beneficial partnership between Pakistan and China.
He said that since its inception, CPEC has evolved into a game-changer, propelling our economies towards progress, prosperity, and shared growth. It has become a symbol of regional connectivity, contributing to peace, stability, and development in the region.
Ambassador said that over the past ten years, CPEC has successfully paved the way for infrastructural development, energy cooperation, industrial collaboration, and people-to-people exchanges.
Ambassador also highlighted that CPEC has created countless employment opportunities, enhanced trade, and investment, and uplifted the lives of our people.
Through the establishment of Special Economic Zones, the promotion of small and medium enterprises, and the development of transport and energy projects, CPEC has become a catalyst for economic transformation and socio-economic upliftment.
Ambassador said that the 10th Anniversary of CPEC provides us with an opportune moment to reflect on our achievements, assess the challenges, and identify new avenues for cooperation.
It is a time to reaffirm our commitment to further strengthen the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic partnership, deepen our economic collaboration, and explore new dimensions of people-to-people exchanges.
Renowned scholars from the People’s Republic of China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries will converge at the forum, engaging in substantive discussions regarding the myriad opportunities, challenges, and approaches to promoting the development of the China-Pakistan economic corridor.
