Ulaanbaatar, 24 November 2021 (TDI): The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Battsetseg Batmunkh received the Deputy Marshal/Speaker of the Parliament (Sejm) of the Republic of Poland, Malgorzata Gosiewska.
The Sejm is officially known as the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. It is the lower house of the bicameral parliament of Poland.
The two sides discussed means to enhance bilateral relations for mutually advantageous cooperation, during the meeting. The Mongolian Foreign Minister emphasized that the reopening of the Embassy of Poland in Ulaanbaatar has further deepened bilateral collaboration.
She stated that the Consular Section of the Embassy will soon commence operations to assist Mongolian citizens.
Malgorzata Gosiewska, on her part, reiterated Poland’s commitment to strengthen ties with Mongolia. She highlighted that her country will further develop and expand joint cooperation in sectors like geology, mining, and private businesses. This is the second visit of the Deputy Marshal of Poland to Ulaanbaatar.
Bilateral collaboration
The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in April 1950. Mongolia maintains an embassy in Warsaw as well as an honorary consulate. Furthermore, the two collaborate in the economic, trade, cultural as well as development sectors.
The two countries are alike because they share similarities in the context of vast mineral resources and the general economic structure.
The trade turnover between the two partners is small but steadily growing. Poland, mainly exports food products, plastics, animal origin products along with equipment and machines, to Mongolia.
Many Polish companies are actively working in Mongolia. Bracia Urbanek Company is one of the largest companies operating in the food sector of Mongolia. In the development sector, the two collaborate under Small Grants scheme.
