Riyadh, 7 October 2021 (TDI): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Saudi Arabia Dr. Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim Al Rassi met on Wednesday with Qatar’s Ambassador Bandar bin Mohammed Al Attiyah.

In retrospect, on 5 June 2017, Saudi Arabia along with Bahrain, Egypt, and the UAE severed all ties with Qatar. However, they restore diplomatic relations at the beginning of 2021 and agreed to reopen airspace, land, and maritime border.

In August, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan praised his country’s relations with Qatar, saying the ties between the two neighbors were “very good”. That same month, Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan became the kingdom’s first ambassador in Doha after their reconciliation.

Although several meetings were held this year, bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries was reviewed yesterday. The normalization of diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia has benefited Qatar to strengthen its relations with the Gulf countries. In particular, the Gulf Cooperation Council has been working on multiple economic, political, and trade cooperation projects since the end of the diplomatic dispute.
