Masarrat Misbah Honored with Global Ambassador Award

Islamabad (TDI): Masarrat Misbah, Founder President Depilex Smile Again Foundation and CEO Depilex Group Pvt Ltd, has been honoured with the prestigious Global Ambassador Award 2024 in recognition of her exceptional contributions to society.

The 6th Global Ambassador Awards Ceremony was organized in Islamabad by The Diplomatic Insight Group, a global public diplomacy institution in Pakistan, with the presence of Ambassadors, diplomatic corps, Parliamentarians, government officials, business leaders, academics, media, and civil society members.

Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Dr. Farhat Asif, Chairperson of the Diplomatic Insight Group, welcomed distinguished guests and underscored the organization’s commitment to promoting global collaboration and diplomacy.

Masarrat Misbah, is a renowned Pakistani entrepreneur, humanitarian, and pioneer in the beauty industry with a 40 years of experience of promoting women empowerment and leadership in the range of sectors.

As the CEO of Depilex Group Pvt Ltd, she transformed a single beauty salon into a nationwide empire with 75 outlets, creating thousands of jobs for women and training hundreds of beauticians who have gone on to start their own businesses.

Through her leadership, Depilex has become a symbol of women’s empowerment in Pakistan.

However, Masarrat’s vision extended far beyond business.

In 2003, she founded the Depilex Smile Again Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to helping survivors of acid and kerosene burns, predominantly victims of domestic violence.

The foundation provides medical treatment, reconstructive surgeries, psychosocial support, and vocational training.

Thanks to her efforts, many survivors have not only regained their physical health but have also become self-sufficient, with some becoming nurses, lawyers, and professionals in various fields.

Masarrat’s advocacy led to legislative milestones, including the Acid Crime Prevention Bill passed in 2011, which strengthens the penalties for acid attacks, and the Sindh Regulation for Storage, Sale, and Purchase of Acid Rules passed in 2022, which regulates the sale of corrosive substances.

Her relentless fight for justice continues, aiming to protect vulnerable women and end acid violence in Pakistan.

For her exceptional contributions to society, Masarrat has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Presidential Award for Pride of Performance in 2010.

Through her work, she has become a beacon of hope and a champion for women’s rights, inspiring others to join the cause of ending violence and promoting gender equality.
