Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan officials have said that the country’s victory in “Marka-i-Haq” has strengthened its global diplomatic standing and highlighted its role in regional and international peace efforts.
Speaking at separate events marking the first anniversary of Marka-i-Haq, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar credited Pakistan’s armed forces, supported by the public, for defending national sovereignty and maintaining stability during last year’s tensions with India.
Addressing diplomats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan’s response to Indian aggression reaffirmed its commitment to sovereignty and the principles of the UN Charter. He also said regional peace should not be undermined by hostility or political confrontation.
Dar said that tensions escalated due to a pattern of Indian actions, including unverified accusations and inflammatory statements. He also raised concerns over India’s decision to suspend parts of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a threat to regional stability.
He warned that any attempt to restrict or divert Pakistan’s water share would be considered an act of war, referencing earlier positions taken by Pakistan’s National Security Committee. He also pointed to fluctuations in river flows as evidence of non-compliance with treaty obligations.

The deputy prime minister praised diplomatic engagement by friendly countries, including the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye, saying these efforts contributed to ceasefire arrangements and de-escalation during the crisis. He also said Pakistan had engaged extensively with more than 120 international counterparts to support dialogue and reduce tensions.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said Pakistan had emerged stronger and more stable following the events, describing the country as a “guarantor of peace” in the region. He warned that any future aggression would be met with an even stronger response and accused India of maintaining a “hegemonic mindset” that threatens regional peace.
He added that Pakistan remains prepared to respond to any form of proxy conflict and highlighted the country’s role in international peacekeeping missions under the United Nations.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan’s position is increasingly being recognized globally, arguing that international audiences have become more receptive to its narrative, while rejecting what he described as inconsistencies in India’s stance.
The statements come amid continued regional tensions and Pakistan’s growing diplomatic engagement in broader Middle East and global conflict resolution efforts.
