Washington, D.C., 2 September 2021 (TDI): The US Secretary of Defense Llyod J. Austin III and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Milley held a press briefing on Wednesday where they expressed immense gratitude towards the Gulf states who supported United States’ evacuation efforts in Afghanistan.

Llyod Austin manifested his interest to visit the Gulf region and personally thank US partners there for supporting the process of Afghanistan evacuations all around. Austin III graciously admired the Gulf allies of the US for giving shelter to the Afghan civilians who were severely affected by the deteriorating peace situation in Afghanistan.

Following the end of America’s 20-year war in Afghanistan, many Afghans and American citizens residing in the country have been displaced and exposed to one of the worst humanitarian crises for which the United States has been making efforts to safely transit the affectees from Afghanistan.
