Vilnius, 23 September 2021 (TDI): Lithuania Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on September 21 in New York.
The two ministers centred their discussion about the achievements and challenges of migration between the two countries.
Landsbergis pointed out to suspend Iraqi Airlines flights to Belarus. Landsbergis and Hussein agreed to continue organizing consular missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iraq to Lithuania. As for the challenges regarding migrants who illegally crossed Lithuania, the next mission should occur at the end of September.
Landsbergis also pointed out his hopes for the Iraqi government for more assistance, which led to rejected asylum applications being forcibly expelled from Lithuania.
