Sadiq noted the special bond Begum Zia shared with Pakistan and her commitment towards revitalizing historical ties, mutual respect, and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Tarique Rahman, now the interim chairperson of the party, hoped that his late mother’s vision may guide future engagements between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Speaker Sadiq also had a meeting later on with Bangladesh’s Law Adviser. Apart from these interactions, the hand shake with Indian External Affairs Minister caught public attention, as both countries remain hostile since they confronted each other militarily in May, 2025.
