Kazakhstan provides Humanitarian Aid to Afghanistan

Kabul, 20 October 2021 (TDI): Kazakh Representative to Afghanistan, Erzhan Kazykhanov confirmed the delivery of the humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. During his visit to Afghanistan, he met with the Representatives of the Interim Government of Afghanistan, Abdul Ghani Baradar, and Amir Khan Muttaqi.

The Afghan side expressed gratitude for the humanitarian assistance. They also noted the significant contribution of Kazakhstan to rebuilding Afghanistan. In addition, the Kazakh Government proposed to provide its domestically-developed QazVac vaccine against COVID-19 to Afghanistan.

Kazakhstan has long been committed to contributing to the prevention of a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

  In the past Nur-Sultan has provided significant support to Afghanistan, including a scholarship program to educate Afghan students.

Kazakhstan hosts many Afghans, including young women and girls, who pursue higher education studies.

During the visit to Kabul, Erzhan Kazykhanov also met with the Special Representative of the UN to Afghanistan, Deborah Lyons. They discussed issues of expanding cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UN in overcoming the humanitarian and food crisis in Afghanistan.
