Kazakhstan, China Sign New Agri Trade Deal at Shanghai Import Expo

Shanghai (TDI): Kazakhstan has taken another step toward strengthening its agricultural presence in the Chinese market after signing a new trade partnership during the China International Import Expo (CIIE 2025).

At the event, the Kazakh Trade Policy Development Center, QazTrade, entered into a cooperation deal with Optimize Integration Group (OIG), one of China’s top food importers, handling nearly one-fifth of the country’s frozen meat imports.

The accord focuses on promoting digital trade, improving logistics, and creating online platforms to make Kazakh food products more accessible to Chinese consumers.

QazTrade’s chief executive, Aitmukhamed Aldazharov, said the collaboration marks a new phase in bilateral trade. “Partnering with OIG, a company known for its advanced technology and market reach, gives Kazakh producers the chance to tap into cutting-edge digital supply chains. It’s an important milestone for both our e-commerce ecosystem and the trust between our nations,” he noted.

During the expo, QazTrade also presented opportunities emerging from Kazakhstan’s expanding network of agricultural cooperatives.

Working jointly with the National Association of Cooperatives of Kazakhstan and China Coop, the country’s largest cooperative retail organization, the initiative will bring Kazakh goods such as honey, kumis, and confectionery to Chinese shelves. China Coop operates over 340,000 retail outlets nationwide with an annual turnover surpassing 7 trillion yuan.

Aldazharov said both sides have already carried out market research, arranged pilot shipments, and outlined the main export priorities, including vegetable oil, meat, honey, dairy beverages, and sweets.

In addition, QazTrade announced the launch of a business acceleration and training program designed for Chinese enterprises interested in expanding their footprint in Kazakhstan and across Central Asia.
