Nur Sultan, 27 October 2021 (TDI): The 5th meeting of the Kazakh-Hungarian Strategic Council was held in Nur Sultan. This meeting took place under the co-chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tleuberdi, and Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance of Hungary, Mihai Varga.
The parties discussed topical issues of bilateral relations in the political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. The bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Hungary showed a positive trend. it increased by 11.8% compared to the same period last year.
The parties agreed to continue the relevant dialogue to facilitate the mutual travel of citizens. They also discussed the possibility of launching new routes of direct flights between the two countries. It was noted that an agreement on mutual recognition of vaccination passports has been signed since June. These steps will enhance the people to people linkage. In addition, the Kazakh side offered Hungarian colleagues the opportunity to use the vaccine “QazVac” in Hungary.
It was agreed to consider several promising areas of cooperation in agriculture. The parties agreed to the development of dairy and poultry and intensive sheep breeding. They also discussed the production of corn seeds of Hungarian selection. The importance of continuing cooperation in the field of education was noted. Today, more than 800 citizens of Kazakhstan study at leading universities in Hungary. The number of students interested in studying in Hungarian under the program “Stipendium Hungaricum” is growing.
A large business forum was also held with the participation of a representative business delegation from Hungary and Kazakh entrepreneurs. In this forum, several investment memorandums were signed. This meeting gave an additional impetus to the deepening of strategic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Hungary.
