Washington D.C., 28 October 2021 (TDI): The Embassy of Pakistan in Washington D.C. organized a special event yesterday to commemorate ‘Kashmir Black Day.’ The event broadcasted a documentary featuring the historical perspective of the dispute and recounted the plight of innocent Kashmiris at the hands of Indian Security forces.

Speaking at the occasion, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, gave special recognition to the Kashmiri and Pakistani American community for raising the voice of innocent Kashmiris in the United States Congress. He also encouraged them to continue sensitizing the respective Congress members and civil society on the matter.

The Ambassador also noted that Prime Minister Imran Khan is eloquently leading the struggle as “Ambassador of oppressed Kashmiris” and that the government of Pakistan would continue providing diplomatic, political, and moral support to the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Ambassador Khan paid tribute to the steadfastness of Kashmiris and reiterated his support towards their struggle for self-determination. He also urged the international community to help resolve the Kashmir dispute and stop human rights violations in the disputed territory.

As part of exhibiting solidarity towards the people of IIOJK, messages of the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Ali, and Prime Minister Imran Khan were read out at the occasion. Moreover, the Embassy featured a photo exhibition representing the life of Kashmiris living under Indian subjugation, as documented by credible media outlets.
