# Japanese Ambassador, DPM/FM Dar Discuss Japan-Pakistan Relations

**Islamabad (TDI):** The ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, AKAMATSU Shuichi, called on Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, on Monday, to discuss Pakistan-Japan relations.

DPM/FM Dar “encouraged efforts to further deepen Pakistan–Japan relations across diverse areas,” while both dignitaries also “exchanged views on key regional and international developments.”

The Embassy of Japan, in a post on social media app X, said that the ambassador had “a fruitful discussion” with DPM/FM Dar on bilateral relations.

Dar highlighted that while Pakistan and Japan have enjoyed friendly ties for decades, there is significant potential to expand this relationship into a more dynamic partnership. Both sides agreed on the need to transform mutual goodwill into stronger economic and strategic cooperation.

The discussion also touched on the growing opportunities for Pakistani skilled workers in Japan. With Japan facing labor shortages, both sides recognized the benefits of creating new pathways for Pakistani professionals to contribute to the Japanese workforce.

In addition to economic and labor cooperation, the two leaders discussed regional and global challenges. They reaffirmed their commitment to working together on issues such as climate change, international trade, and collaboration within multilateral forums.

Dar underlined Pakistan’s commitment to creating a more investor-friendly environment to attract Japanese businesses. Ambassador Akamatsu welcomed these efforts and reaffirmed Japan’s dedication to enhancing bilateral cooperation in the years ahead.

Recently, at the Osaka Expo 2025, Pakistani pavilion won the bronze award for “artistic vision, innovation, and meaningful design.”
