Tokyo, 13 January 2022 (TDI): On December 28th, 2021, Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi announced that the government of Japan is planning to send the Seven Hundred Thousands doses of COVID – 19 Vaccines namely AstraZeneca to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Said vaccines will be provided to Iran through the COVAX facility.
At that time, it had been announced the delivery of an extra 7 lakh vaccine doses against COVID-19 to Iran, bringing the total number of vaccine doses sent to Iran to 3.6 million. Furthermore, Yoshimasa Hayashi also informed that Japan has already given coronavirus vaccinations to 23 other states of the world.
Japan to provide COVID-19 vaccine doses to Iran
As part of the support from Japan to contribute to the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 in Iran, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced the decision of Japanese government on January 12, to provide Japan’s made approximately 700 thousand doses of COVID-19 vaccines to the Islamic Republic of Iran through the COVAX facility.
The first batch of around 350 thousand doses of the vaccinations will be transported from Japan to Iran on January 12. After this supply, Iran will have received a total of approximately 3.61 million doses, including the last delivery of the doses approximately 2.91 million supplied in July 2021.
According to the Foreign Office of Japan, it has been expected that the said vaccines provided by them are being expected to contribute to the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 in Iran. Japan will continue to implement various assistance measures in collaboration with relevant nations and international organizations in order to achieve the earliest possible convergence of COVID-19.
Japan has already been hosted a virtual GaviCOVAX market summit in the last year’s June to provide the equal access to COVID–19 vaccines to developing states of the world. Said virtual summit has raised the cash of 1.8 billion vaccine doses, enough to vaccinate 30% of the people in underdeveloped nations.
Japan to provide COVID-19 vaccine doses to Egypt and Syria
It is also pertinent to mention that Japan has already announced to provide approximately seven hundred thousand (700,000) of doses to Egypt and approximately one hundred and fifty thousand (150,000) doses to Syria through the COVAX facility.
