# Israeli Settlers Storm Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound

**Jerusalem (TDI):** Dozens of Israelis entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem on Thursday morning under the protection of police, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.

Local reports said the group entered the compound and carried out religious rituals in its courtyards. Wafa added that these activities took place under police escort.

Footage circulated online also showed groups inside the compound engaging in singing and dancing, while being accompanied by Israeli security forces.

Turkiye’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on social media platform X, saying such actions could increase tensions in the region. It stressed that the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque as a Muslim holy site must be respected and called for the protection of Palestinian rights and holy places in East Jerusalem.

Earlier, Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also visited the Al-Aqsa compound under heavy police protection, a move that drew criticism from Palestinian officials.

According to Wafa and the Jerusalem Governorate, such incidents are part of a broader pattern of repeated entries into the site and increased restrictions on worshippers.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is considered the third holiest site in Islam. Jews refer to the area as the Temple Mount, believing it to be the location of ancient temples.

Reports also state that Israeli police have allowed limited access to the compound since 2003, with restrictions on certain days of the week. Palestinian officials say there has been a rise in such incidents in recent months.

Palestinians maintain that East Jerusalem is intended to be the capital of their future state, and do not recognize Israel’s annexation of the city.
