# Israeli Forces Cross North of Litani River in Operations Against Hezbollah

**Beirut (TDI):** Israeli military carried out a week-long operation in southern Lebanon, crossing north of the Litani River for the first time in the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah, according to Israeli media reports.

The forces are said to have reached areas near the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiya, located roughly 10 kilometers from the Israeli border.

The Israeli army radio reported that units from the Egoz special forces and the Golani Brigade’s reconnaissance company operated beyond the Litani River, engaging in activities near the village during the operation.

Several soldiers were reportedly injured in the clashes. In one incident, Hezbollah fighters allegedly emerged from a tunnel north of the river, triggering direct combat with Israeli troops.

Channel 14 reported that the military action was intended to support possible future movements of armoured and infantry units into areas used for rocket and drone attacks against Israel.

The Israeli military also stated that it struck more than 100 targets over the course of the week-long operation.

Meanwhile, tensions between Israel and Hezbollah continue to escalate despite a ceasefire agreement reached in April aimed at reducing hostilities. Israeli forces have continued strikes in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah has maintained cross-border attacks.

According to Lebanese health authorities, more than 2,800 people have been killed since the conflict intensified earlier in the year.

Since early March, the Israeli military has also issued repeated evacuation orders for civilians in areas south of the Litani River, directing them to move further north amid ongoing fighting.
