# Iran Says Strait of Hormuz to Be Jointly Managed With Oman

**Tehran (TDI):** Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Iran and Oman will jointly oversee the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law, emphasizing the two countries’ shared responsibility as the waterway’s bordering states.

Speaking in an interview broadcast by Iranian state media, Araghchi said Tehran and Muscat have a natural right to coordinate decisions concerning the strategic maritime passage. While Iran will consult Gulf states on developments related to the strait, he stressed that management decisions would ultimately rest with Iran and Oman.

He added that both countries are committed to ensuring the safe movement of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz in line with international regulations.

Araghchi also said communication between Iran’s leadership and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei remains active, adding that directives from the country’s top leadership are implemented promptly. He maintained that there is broad national unity behind Iran’s current policies.

Meanwhile, uncertainty remains over reports of a possible ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. According to Israeli media reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told members of the security cabinet that no formal agreement has yet been approved. He reportedly said any decision would depend on whether all parties, including Hezbollah, agree to the proposed arrangement.

Separately, senior Iranian military adviser Mohsen Rezaei said Iran had prepared missile responses following recent Israeli threats against Beirut’s southern suburbs. Speaking to Iranian state television, he accused Israel of attempting to pressure Lebanon to gain leverage in negotiations involving Iran.

Rezaei reaffirmed Tehran’s support for Hezbollah, arguing that allies must be supported during times of conflict. He also warned that any future confrontation could expose northern Israel to conditions more severe than those experienced during the recent fighting.

Commenting on the Strait of Hormuz, Rezaei described the waterway as a key strategic asset for Iran, saying it should remain open for trade while criticizing the continued military presence of foreign powers in the region. He also called for the release of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets as a confidence-building measure in ongoing negotiations.
