# Iran Prepares Revised Proposal as Trump Hesitates on Earlier Offer

**Tehran (TDI):** Iran is preparing to present a revised proposal aimed at easing tensions with the United States, as President Donald Trump appears hesitant to move forward with Tehran’s earlier offer.

Reports suggest that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to consult the country’s leadership after returning from Russia before finalising the new plan. However, progress has reportedly been slow due to difficulties in coordinating with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, whose whereabouts are being kept undisclosed.

According to officials familiar with the discussions, Iran’s proposal, recently shared during talks in Pakistan, outlines a phased approach. The initial step would involve halting the ongoing conflict involving the US and Israel, along with firm guarantees that hostilities would not resume, Dawn reported.

Subsequent stages would focus on lifting restrictions on Iran’s maritime trade and addressing the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, which Tehran wants reopened under its oversight. Only after these steps, the proposal suggests, would negotiations move toward more complex issues, including Iran’s nuclear programme.

Trump appeared to acknowledge elements of the proposal in a social media post, stating that Iran had urged the US to reopen the vital shipping route. He also claimed that Tehran was facing internal instability, though officials in Iran have continued to project defiance.

Despite the diplomatic signals, US officials are said to be sceptical, with concerns that the proposal may not meet Washington’s expectations. Regional players have also warned that failure to reach a resolution could result in a prolonged “frozen conflict.”

Meanwhile, Iran has maintained a firm stance. Its representatives at the United Nations have called for assurances that neither the US nor Israel would launch further attacks, while defense officials in Tehran have rejected what they describe as unreasonable demands from Washington.
