# Iran Claims US Warship Hit in Hormuz, CENTCOM Denies

**Tehran (TDI):** Tensions have escalated in the Strait of Hormuz after conflicting claims between Iran and the United States over a reported incident involving a US warship.

Iranian officials and IRGC-linked media claimed that missiles struck a US naval vessel and that Iranian forces had forced it to turn back. However, US Central Command firmly denied any such attack, stating that no US Navy ships were hit and that its vessels continue routine operations in the region.

Iranian officials also said warning shots were fired at foreign military ships and reiterated that passage through the Strait requires Iranian authorization. State-affiliated outlets further claimed Iranian forces prevented hostile ships from entering the area.

At the same time, the United States announced support for “Project Freedom,” aimed at securing commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. US officials said naval forces were assisting in ensuring safe passage for merchant vessels amid growing regional tensions.

Regional security concerns increased further after the United Arab Emirates accused Iran of a drone attack on an empty oil tanker owned by ADNOC. No casualties were reported, but the incident added to fears of disruption in one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes.

Separately, Iranian officials said they are reviewing a US proposal related to ending ongoing hostilities, though they described American demands as excessive and difficult to accept at this stage.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard also released a map outlining what it claims as its area of control in the Strait of Hormuz, though it was unclear whether this represents any new operational change.

Meanwhile, the US confirmed it had transferred a previously seized Iranian vessel and its crew to Pakistan for repatriation, following its interception in the Gulf of Oman.
