Beirut, 27 November 2021 (TDI): Representatives of Iranian universities and the University of Lebanon emphasized strengthening educational ties. It includes the development of scientific and research skills. Furthermore, the meeting was held in the office of the President of the Lebanese University.

Abbas Khameh-Yar congratulated Badran on his appointment as President of the University of Lebanon. As well, he highlighted the need to put into practice the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This was signed between the University of Lebanon and the Universities of Isfahan, Amirkabir, Ferdowsi, and other Iranian universities.

Cooperation and mechanisms to enhance educational ties

Both representatives are looking for new ways to improve relations between the educational institutions. As Lebanon and Iran share ties on mutual educational benefits, between the topics of academic cooperation, previous agreements with the institution include literature. However, the Iranian official pointed out the need to expand the Persian language and literature department in the University. Moreover, Iran’s Cultural Attaché in Lebanon invited Badran to visit Iran for talks and discussions with university officials.

Hence, Bassam Badran, for his part, agreed on the need to expand cooperation between the Lebanese University and the Iranian universities. The President emphasized the importance of joint symposiums and scientific conferences between the parties. Likewise,  to develop mutual cooperation with a focus on content production and maximum dissemination.

Finally, the President of the University of Lebanon suggested new methods to develop educational ties from an innovative perspective. Therefore, he said that in order to develop scientific cooperation with Iranian universities, it is important to compile regulations. In that way, this will provide a basis for cooperation in attracting and exchanging students and professors in the coming years.

Both officials agree on future meetings in Tehran, Iran, to further discuss the mechanisms to enhance educational ties. Bassam Badran thanked Iran’s Cultural Attaché in Lebanon for his cooperation and interest in the University of Lebanon.
