Jeddah (TDI): Pakistan’s Consul General in Saudi Arabia, Khalid Majid, underscored the importance of the strong bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the role of the 2nd Investment Opportunities Summit and Smart Expo in further strengthening these ties.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the summit in Jeddah, Majid highlighted the economic progress of both nations and expressed confidence that the event would significantly contribute to enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The summit, organized by the Pakistan Association of Exhibition Industry, attracted numerous Saudi and Pakistani business representatives, with various Pakistani companies showcasing their offerings in medical tourism, education, real estate, and hospitality sectors.
Majid pointed out that the 2.7 million-strong Pakistani diaspora in Saudi Arabia reflected the enduring bond between the two countries. Over the past five years, around 1.7 million Pakistani workers had moved to Saudi Arabia, making it the top destination for Pakistani emigrants.
The Consul General lauded the contributions of the Pakistani workforce, describing them as key to the economic partnership between the two nations.
He also shared that the Consulate had recently launched the Pakistan Investor Forum in Jeddah, aimed at fostering links between Pakistani investors and Saudi businesses.
Pakistan’s Exports to Saudi Arabia
Majid noted that Pakistani exports to Saudi Arabia had increased by 22%, attributing this positive trend to the collective efforts of both countries’ business communities.
He emphasized the need to sustain this momentum and continue to expand market share in Saudi Arabia.

The consul general also spoke of the recent visit by a 130-member Saudi business delegation to Islamabad, which resulted in the signing of 27 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) across various sectors, a clear sign of mutual business interests.

He further highlighted the importance of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) of Pakistan, which prioritizes investors, particularly from Saudi Arabia, and is committed to providing a secure investment environment.
